DASH: The government has not progressed with the property problem

In the annual report on the Investment Climate in Albania, DASH has also addressed the problems with the property issue.

DASH says that property rights continue to present a challenge in Albania, because it is difficult to obtain an uncontested certificate of ownership.

The US State Department cites the government's commitment to address the problem, but says it has made no progress.

"There have been cases of individuals who allegedly manipulated the court system to illegally obtain a land title. Overlapping property titles is a serious and common issue. The compensation process for lands confiscated by the former communist regime continues to be difficult, inefficient and insufficient. The government has shown the will to deal with this problem, but without progress", the report states./ CNA
