Gender equality/Hasani at the UN: We must do more for women

Prime Minister Edi Rama and Foreign Minister Igli Hasani are in New York, where they will participate in the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

During this meeting, what is currently happening with Ukraine, Gaza or Sudan and the unrest in other countries will be discussed.

Foreign Minister Igli Hasani was part of a meeting where the focus was on discussions on gender equality.

Hasani underlined the need for policies that promote the engagement of women in public life.

"I have seen the terrible consequences of Russian aggression in Ukraine and the effects of war on Ukrainian women. I have seen the suffering of women in Gaza, they are living in terrible conditions. I have seen millions of displaced women in Sudan or even discrimination against women in Iran. We must do more for all these women because this is our duty", said Minister Hasani.

Minister Hasani is expected to sign several agreements for the mutual liberalization of visas, in order to strengthen the Albanian passport in the world.

Also, he will have bilateral meetings with the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Egypt, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Malta, Morocco, Mongolia, Turkmenistan, Cyprus./ CNA
