Residents of Luz village in protest/ Aulon Kalaja, call on ARRSH

Residents of the village of Luzi have once again taken to the streets to demand improvements to the neighborhood's road, which they say is damaged and unsafe. The protest has caused the blocking of access roads and the diversion of traffic towards Fushë-Krujë.

Journalist and activist Aulon Kalaja also supported the residents, emphasizing that the road is vital for children going to school, for business transportation, and for the passage of trucks.

He has called on the Albanian Road Authority (ARRSH) to visit the site and provide information on funds for asphalting the road.

Residents are demanding the road be paved to European standards, warning that the protest could escalate if there is no concrete response from the authorities.

"Even today we are with the residents of Luz. They have come out for their legitimate right to the road. Even last week they made warnings that the road will be blocked, even today they have blocked the road, because they have the right. This is a non-political protest, it is a protest only for their civil rights. We have seen that the road is being blocked all over Albania, masses of soil are falling, meanwhile here is another problem. 15 years ago these men and some others who are no longer alive, came out here to block the road so that this axis would not be built, because it is a neighborhood road, this is a village road. Luzi gave this road to the city of Fushë-Krujë, the city of Krujë, and also to all of Albania. It made this sacrifice and gave the road to it, and leaving Luzi in this kind of form is a crime. Therefore, it is the right of these residents not only to come out to protest, but to commit other even more violent acts, because an answer is needed here.

That's why I appeal to Luzi, the Albanian Road Authority, because we know what scandals it has been involved in recently. Let that director come here and see the road. If that guy's car passes here, then tell the people of Luzi to let their cars pass too. That the cars are taken for service every day. All the businesses in this area are totally ruined, failed. The Kalamaj people pass here every day to go to school and it's the trucks that risk their lives. Can't they build an iron overpass from here to take them directly to the school? These are legitimate demands for these people. What are they looking for? Are they looking for luxury to be paved with gold? No, brother, they want asphalt and quality asphalt. Not to come here and throw gravel and gravel, which with the next rain the river will take and fall down.

The same situation is in the other Luz, in Luz below. It is the road that is scandalous. That is why the water issue was fixed there because they opened the road and couldn't close it. So, they can't lay asphalt there either. We need thick asphalt, we need asphalt with European standards because trucks pass here and it is a road that will be destroyed. Therefore, the ARA must come here. We will write a letter, because we have agreed together with the residents. The residents will sign, we will ask for information about where this part has gone wrong. Has the fund for the Luz road been approved or not? If it has not been approved, will it be approved and when will it be approved? Because it will not continue indefinitely.

The residents intend to escalate the protest. The police today blocked the road, the entrance to the village of Luz on the right and here from the highway side and diverted traffic, and the city of Fushë-Krujë understands that it did not bring representatives here today, understands what the traffic in Luz is. That trucks entered Fushë-Krujë today.

Today you have trucks in Fushë-Krujë. And there has been supertraffic. It's good that it's morning traffic when people go to work and to schools, they have taken all the trucks to Fushë-Krujë. I also call on big business to enter into negotiations with the municipality and find a solution. That another solution can be found, to pave the way for these factories that operate here, which took the soul of these people.

"Paver the road, they don't go out to protest, they continue their work. We also have other things to do. That's why they forced us to come out here. We call on the ARRSH once again," said Kalaja./ CNA
