New medicine prices/ Alimehmeti: Unjustified increase, only the government

DP member and physician, Ilir Alimehmeti, spoke today about the increase in the price of medicines. In an interview with Syri TV, Alimehmeti said that the increase is unreasonable and that only the government benefits from it.

He further said that while we have price increases, citizens still have no certainty about the quality of these medicines.

 "There are many different types of medicines. These prices increased so quickly means that there is an interest within the government to have some benefits, between some actors. In this aspect, an attempt is made to cover a financial gap, by fictitiously increasing the prices of some medicines which in fact have no justification for this increase. On the one hand, we have price increases, on the other hand, we have no certainty about their quality. We have a law that cannot guarantee whether we have certified medicines or not in the health system. In this aspect, there is no other explanation. They waited for the weekend to announce the increase. I emphasize here that there is no other argument, except for the benefit of the fund on the one hand, and filling some pockets on the other. The price of medicines in the Albanian market, whether reimbursed or not, is regulated by the Ministry of Health. And through the reimbursement scheme or out of pocket, the citizen pays the price. There is no argument whatsoever for the price of medicines to increase, because they are not new medicines, they are the same ," he said. Alimehmeti. /CNA
