Arben Malaj: Some officials arrested today are the product of courageous

Former minister Arben Malaj today described SPAK as the most effective state structure in the fight against corruption.

Invited to A2 CNN, Malaj said that some arrested officials are the product of courageous decisions by the Special Prosecution Office.

Malaj also recalled a meeting in 2008, in which he expressed a different opinion from current Prime Minister Edi Rama regarding constitutional changes.

"During a long meeting in 2008 with Edi Rama, I requested that the changes be accompanied by professional opinions from constitutional law experts. This request was not taken into account, so I refused to vote for the changes, which today I consider to be the starting point of the weakening of the internal democracy of the parties. Rama did not want to listen, despite the clear problems of governance. I appreciate the role of SPAK, as the most effective state structure in the fight against corruption and state capture, supported by all members of Parliament. Some officials arrested today are the product of courageous decisions of SPAK. If the fourth mandate of the government turns into a "photocopy of the previous ones", the situation in the country will worsen", - said Malaj. /CNA
