Japanese Ambassador to Maliq/ Delivers Logistics Vehicle for Road Maintenance

The Ambassador of Japan to Albania, Kato Kikuko, visited the Municipality of Maliq where she delivered a logistical vehicle for road maintenance funded by a Japanese grant, with the aim of improving the maintenance of local roads and administrative services for residents.

During her speech, the ambassador emphasized the municipality's need for this investment, due to the difficulties of the mountainous area and difficult weather conditions.

"The project is related to a grant awarded to the Municipality of Maliqi. We understand that this municipality has a significant need to improve the maintenance of local roads, in order to guarantee better administrative services for its residents. Being a mountainous area, Maliqi is often affected by heavy rainfall and snowfall, which in some cases prevent residents from receiving public services in a timely and appropriate manner."

Kato Kikuko also emphasized that this investment is directly related to the priorities of Japanese policy for sustainable development in Albania.

"Yes, we have two main priorities in our development policy towards Albania: the environment and equitable development throughout the country's territory. The provision of this STIA skid loader is fully in line with our policy for equitable development in Albania. Japan has been offering our support to assist the Albanian Government's socio-economic reforms towards EU integration, within the framework of the Western Balkans Cooperation Initiative."

The delivered vehicle is expected to increase the municipality's efficiency in cleaning and maintaining roads, facilitating residents' access to public services and contributing to the development of local infrastructure./ CNA
