Archbishop Joan, official visit to Shkodra on December 21

Shkodra will be in the spotlight of the Orthodox Church on December 21st! Sources for CNA indicate that the Archbishop of Tirana, Durrës and All Albania, Joan, is expected to make his first official visit to the northern city.

The visit is considered historic and of particular importance not only for the Orthodox believers of the area, but also for the highest leader of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania himself.

According to the confirmed agenda, Archbishop Joan will start the day with a stop at the Orthodox Church of Shkodra, where he will be welcomed by the clergy and local believers.

Afterwards, Archbishop Joan will visit the Municipality of Shkodra, where he will hold a meeting with local leaders. Part of the discussions is expected to be the issue of property, where the church has reacted several times, especially regarding the land on which the tower is being built in the city center.

The visit will continue with meetings in the city's other religious communities, Catholic and Muslim. /CNA
