The head of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, has raised the alarm regarding the large amount of money borrowed from the state.

He says that the debt figures for these 10 years from the government are in the billions.

According to Meta, this debt has encouraged the depopulation of the country and has not increased the well-being of the citizens, has not fought poverty.

For him, this is an alarm that should concern every Albanian.

"The Public Debt of Albania is in the most unfavorable conditions and this is an alarm that should concern every Albanian. The total cost of debt service in 2024 will reach an extraordinary amount, at 118.2 billion ALL or 1.1 billion euros.

The total cost of debt service (interest + principal) will be almost equal for the next year to the budget of the three ministries, Agriculture, Education and Infrastructure and Energy taken together. Billions of euros have been borrowed by the Government these 10 years, only to rob them through concessions, through hundreds and thousands of abusive tenders and not to serve the citizens and their well-being.
