Electric cars dominate the Paris Motor Show

On Monday, the car fair began in Paris where electric ones dominated, thus proving the commitment of the car industry to become fully electric by 2035. At the opening of the fair, well-known names were present such as French President Emmanuel Macron, the actress French Juliette Binoche and former soccer player Eric Cantona.

At the 90th edition of the Paris Motor Show, some of the latest models of car manufacturers were presented.

French President Emmanuel Macron was in attendance to show his support for French car manufacturing companies. He even sat down to test a prototype of the Peugeot company.

French companies had a good showing. Companies such as Renault and Citroen presented new electric cars, from those for the general European market to small cars designed for use in European cities.

This is the best activity for manufacturers to establish direct contact with consumers, says Serge Gachot, director of the Paris Motor Show.

"I think it is important for companies to highlight their newest products and for their managers to have the opportunity to address more political issues as well. We just had elections in Europe recently, there will be elections in the US in a few weeks. I think it is important to talk about certain issues, about the orientation until 2035 towards fully electric cars" , says Mr. Gachot.

According to the plan approved by the European Union for the elimination of pollution by 2050, the sale of new diesel and gasoline cars is expected to stop by 2035.

Like the French companies, the German BMW has invested heavily in electric car technology. BMW introduced the new Neue Klasse car that uses the entire length of the windshield to display digital information.

Even the MINI Cooper, the favorite car of French actress Juliette Binoche, is now electric and with a larger battery capacity, with a maximum range of up to 371 kilometers.

The other German company Audi presented new versions of its electric cars, such as the Q6. The electric car was even presented by the Czech company Skoda.

European companies have invested heavily in electric cars and are already increasing pressure on governments to subsidize their efforts, says Mark Tisshaw, editor at Autocar magazine.

"We are already beyond the point of initial innovation and are in the phase of mass production for the market. And the way to attract people to this market is through offers. "Car companies say they have already done their part and are asking governments to support these electric cars that cost more than petrol cars ," says Mr Tisshaw.

In addition to European companies, companies from America and Asia also participated in the fair. The Chinese company XPeng presented its car driven by artificial intelligence.

Attention was drawn by the Tesla company, with its long-awaited Cybertruck truck, the Cadillac company with its new Lyriq electric car, as well as the Ford company, which reintroduced to the public, with the help of the French football player Eric Cantona, the new electric version of the well-known car 1969 Capri./ VOA
