Mira Murati leaves OpenAI

The head of technology of the OpenAI company, Mira Murati, has announced that she is leaving this company after six and a half years.

Murat had served as the company's chief executive last year at the time of a failed coup against the firm's founder, Sam Altman.

Through a notification, which she sent to the employees, which she also distributed on X, Murati said that "I have made the decision to leave OpenAI".

Murat's departure comes after a number of top officials at the Microsoft-backed artificial intelligence company have left this year, including founders Ilya Sutskever and John Schulman.

OpenAI, the company that owns ChatGPT, is one of the fastest growing companies in the world.

"It's never the right moment to leave the country you appreciate, but again, I feel this is the right decision," said Murati, the 35-year-old engineer from Vlora, Albania.

"The launch of our Open AI o1 speech models marks the beginning of a new era of interaction and intelligence – achievements made possible by your ingenuity and ingenuity," Murati said in the announcement sent to OpenAI employees.

Murati said that he is leaving the company because he wants to create "time and space to explore". She added that her main focus will be to have an easy "transition" in the company after the decision to leave the company.

The CEO of OpenAI, Sam Altman, through a post on X, thanked Mira Murat "for everything".

He said that Mira Murati was a very important person for OpenAI, "for our mission and for all of us personally".

"I am extremely grateful to her for the help she has offered to build and achieve, but above all I feel personal gratitude to her for her support and love in difficult times. I can't wait to see what she will do now,” he said.

OpenAi's growth has accelerated since it launched the ChatGPT app in 2022. Currently, it is believed that the value of the company is more than 150 billion dollars./ REL
