OFFICIAL/ Fonseca leaves, Milan chooses a new coach


The Milan club has decided to fire coach Paulo Fonseca after a disappointing first phase in the championship. The appearances far from the expectations and the eighth place in the ranking with only 27 points, a full 14 points away from the leader, have forced the club leaders to take this drastic decision. Fonseca, who took charge of the team in the summer, failed to convince either the fans or the management, leaving Milan in a difficult situation for the objectives of the season.

However, the Red and Black club has wasted no time in finding a new successor. The management of the team will be entrusted to another Portuguese coach: Sérgio Conceição. The 50-year-old coach has accepted Milan's offer and will take charge of the team with a contract that will run until June 2026. In the coming days, Conceição and his agent, Jorge Mendes, will travel to Italy to make official the agreement and to start working with the team.

Conceição comes after a long and successful spell at Porto, where he managed for seven years, winning several titles in Portugal and scoring decent performances in European competitions. Before that, he managed the likes of Nantes in France and Braga in Portugal, building a reputation as an ambitious and capable manager.

His appointment is seen as a strategic move by Milan's management, who aim to give the team a new identity and a new competitive spirit. Conceição is known for his strong tactical style, passion on the pitch and ability to get the most out of his players, qualities that Milan managers hope to see in their squad.

This appointment represents a new chapter for Milan, who are still in the race for seasonal goals, both in the championship and in European competitions. Red and black fans expect Conceição to bring stability and positive results, while the new coach has a big challenge ahead: to bring Milan back to the top of Italian and European football.
