The surname Maldini continues to write the history of football and the Italian national team.

As of Monday evening, three generations of the Maldini family have worn the jersey of the Italian national football team.

First in chronological order was Cesare, who made his debut on 6 January 1960 and went on to make a total of 14 appearances for Italy.

Then it was Paolo Maldini's turn. In his case, the debut came on March 31, 1988. In total, the Milan legend counted 126 matches with Italy, the last on June 18, 2002.

On Monday, Daniel Maldini was activated in the last minutes of the match against Israel in place of Giacomo Raspadori, making his debut for Italy.
