WHO is taking serious measures regarding the composition of carbonated drinks and not only.

Aspartame, an artificial sweetener found mainly in fizzy drinks, will be declared a carcinogen in the coming days.

The substance, used in everything from diet soda to chewing gum, will be listed in July as a "human health carcinogen" for the first time by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), the right arm of the World Health Organization. (WHO).

Although until now there has been no scientific study on this issue, as concerned consumers are eagerly awaiting all the latest results, which are directly related to their health.

Aspartame can be found in nearly 6,000 food products worldwide and industry bodies have criticized the new classification as misleading and confusing. Meanwhile, according to foreign media, it is reported that since 1981, JECFA has said that aspartame, this substance that can currently be declared carcinogenic, is safe to consume within accepted daily limits.

For example, an adult weighing 60 kg may drink between 12 and 36 cans of diet soda to be exposed to the risk.
