36 million people experience prolonged symptoms of COVID/WHO, struggle to return

The World Health Organization is focusing on how to get back to normal now that the pandemic is over.

About 36 million people living in Europe and parts of Central Asia may have experienced long-term COVID in the three years since the pandemic began, according to the European regional office and the World Health Organization (WHO).

COVID-19 has created a postviral condition characterized by symptoms that persist even after someone has recovered from a COVID-19 infection.

Symptoms of those experiencing a long viral time are fatigue, shortness of breath, heart palpitations, cough, dizziness and more.

1 in 30 people may still find it difficult to return to normal life," said Dr Hans Kluge, WHO regional director for Europe, at a press conference on Tuesday.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, sufferers have described feeling abandoned, with relapses or new symptoms after their initial COVID infections that are sometimes not taken seriously./ CNA
