"Whispers", the show that highlights women's stories
Zamira Kita

"The Whisper" came on the evening of November 25 near the Digital Arts Gallery in Korça, as a performance that highlights women's stories. Stories of those who are no longer alive, of those who have left a mark and of those who are descendants of these whispers.

November 25 is the symbolic day that coincides with the 16th day of activism against gender-based violence, and female actors from Korça, Tirana, Durrës, Kosovo and Serbia were part of this show. They came together to bring different stories of women, conveying to the public pain, tears, liberation and joy, a multitude of feelings that a woman experiences in different situations of her life.

"The Whisper" was directed by Driada Dervish, who selected the best actresses who would give another experience to the public, including sensitizing and awareness messages with the call "stop violence".

Director Dervishi tells what "The Whisper" brings and why exactly Korça was chosen to appear.

"I am very happy that in fact women's stories come with a very significant title which is "The Whisper". Whispers of women come, true stories that are no longer, have left a mark, and others that are descendants of these whispering together with the idea of ??giving a stronger voice. It is precisely on November 25, a symbolic day that coincides with the 16th day of activism against gender-based violence. It is not without reason that we are in Korça, in addition to all the great tradition of art and culture that Korça has always shown."

On this marked and very significant day, seeing the increased cases of sexual harassment, this initiative was taken for Dryada by collaborating with actresses from Kosovo and Serbia, to minimize this delicate phenomenon and to make viewers reflect on this phenomenon.

"Unfortunately, we have to say that according to reports, in recent years there has been a very large increase in sexual harassment and it will seem unbelievable when you find such beautiful environments as GAD, we hear about such events and events that we have not do not make us feel good at all. On the other hand, the initiative is born precisely for this, to minimize this very delicate phenomenon, regarding the cooperation of actors from Albania, Serbia for the first time. It is a cooperation that takes it further this topic, which is the violence that is heard a lot in the Balkans and does not have a type of geography. The problem remains the same, through art we give a form of awareness, and we believe that art, the word and this experience will bring a performance that will surprise and it will make you reflect."

The well-known actress Rudina Dembacaj, part of the cast with a very painful history, shares her experience in this show, hoping that through art, not only the language of violence but also the terrible actions against women will be softened.

"Being within the framework of the 16 days, the message should be the same, stop violence, stop murders of women. I have a very emotional monologue with a woman who was killed by her husband and during her confession she did not put herself guilty that he beat her and it has to do with the digitalization of the time that people are involved in social networks It is a great emotion and I would like such shows to be in every corner of every city. I wish that through art we can soften this language of violence and not only language but terrible actions against women."

Korça actress Zamira Kita could not miss this show, who expresses her happiness that the city of Korça was chosen to realize this project, stressing that Korça is the city of art and cultural heritage. Her message at the end of the interview is "Don't touch the woman/girl!".

"Today is the first day of the 16th day of activation against gender-based violence, and of course we are all here to bring this message not only to abused women, but also to those who have not been abused and husbands, brothers, sons It is very nice that this activity comes to Korça, it must be said that Korça has a tradition in art, culture and heritage that would not sound better in another city Korça, Durrës, Tirana, with the direction of Driada Dervish to convey some texts authored by women and girls who have brought their stories. The stories are sad, painful, scary and beautiful and we will convey them through them this message that coincides precisely with the fight against gender-based violence. Don't touch the woman, the girl!"

Maja Mitic comes for the first time in this cooperation between Albanian actresses, expressing herself quite satisfied that she is in this city and in this fantastic environment that the Digital Arts Gallery offers. The Serbian actress shows the reasons why she became part of this project, stressing that it is very important to listen to their messages against violence against women.

"Tomorrow I will stay and see Korca because these 2-3 days we have been working all the time in this beautiful environment, it seems as if I am in London. What can I say about this organization? Yes, I am an artist and they can see me, but I'm also a woman, and it's very important to talk about this topic and to say stop to violence. There are many types of violence, economic, psychological, etc. The other reason I'm in this project" "Sigh" is yes let's do something for our region. It's not something that comes only from the EU or from well-known and rich countries. In fact, it comes from groups of actors from Kosovo, Albania and Serbia, who are part of this important group that should be listened to. the message to stop the violence."

"Sigh" appeared on a marked day, where many women and girls have experienced moments of horror from other parties, where suffering has been great but their strength has triumphed in the end. The audience applauded the performance of the actresses participating in this project, who, among the selected stories and their roles, gave sensitizing and awareness messages against violence against women and girls./ CNA
