Korça, a city known for its culture and traditions, turned into an international center of visual art during the last edition of the "Gjon Mili" International Video Art Festival.
This festival, named after the famous Albanian photographer, Gjon Mili, is a celebration of video art that challenges the usual boundaries of creativity and artistic expression, embracing cultural diversity and innovation.
International Video Art Festival "Gjon Mili" is an excellent example of how art can melt borders and unite nationalities.
For its latest edition, the festival attracted tremendous international interest, receiving over 2,600 entries from artists from around the world.
This wide participation shows not only the importance of the festival in the global art scene, but also the power of video art to communicate universal ideas and emotions.
A selection jury of international art experts was tasked with sifting through this huge volume of creations and choosing the 103 best works, which competed for a wide range of prizes.
This selection process was a challenge in itself, given the high level of creativity and diversity these creations represented.
Participating artists came from all continents, representing different cultures and traditions, creating an authentic international experience. This global presence turned Korça into a meeting point for artists and audiences, proving that art knows no barriers and can serve as a bridge between different peoples.
With an open and creative spirit, "Gjon Mili" not only served as a platform to promote innovative art, but also as a tool to strengthen intercultural ties and promote peace and understanding between nations. Art, in this context, becomes a universal language that unites people, regardless of their background.
One of the unique features of the festival is its focus on Video Art, an art form that does not adhere to traditional rules. Video Art is a medium that challenges norms, often exploring taboo subjects, abstract sensations and various forms of human expression. In an era where cultural and technological barriers are being broken every day, "JJON MILI IVAF" represents a platform where artists from all over the world can share their unique visions.
The last edition of the festival, which was held in November 2024, aimed to highlight the power of art to unite different nationalities and cultures. With the participation of 103 artists from over 20 countries, the festival became a meeting point for international creativity.
By bringing together people from different cultures, the festival proves that art is a universal language that transcends any kind of political, linguistic or ideological barrier.

The festival, which lasted several days, included a rich program of activities, including:

2. Training days : Artists and art professionals held seminars and workshops at GAD Gallery and "Gjon Mili" Museum. These sessions covered various topics, from new video art production techniques to the role of art in addressing social issues.
3. Widespread performances in the city: To involve the general public, performances were organized in several important points of Korça, including the City Library and the Korça Innovation Hub.
The participation of artists from different countries gave the festival an international dimension, bringing to Korça a spirit of artistic globalism. But the impact was not limited to the international level; the festival also had a great impact on the local community, encouraging young Albanians to explore art and technology as powerful tools for expression and interaction.

One of the most interesting aspects of JJON MILI IVAF is the way he creates bridges between cultures. By focusing on the arts, the festival completely avoids political overtones and tensions, creating a safe and welcoming space for all participants.
In this way, JJON MILI IVAF is not just an art festival, but an excellent example of cultural diplomacy.
The name of the festival is a tribute to Gjon Mili, the well-known Albanian photographer and artist who contributed to the development of modern visual art. Mili is known for his innovative use of light and his photographs that capture movement in unprecedented ways. His legacy inspires young artists to experiment and push the boundaries of creativity.
Seeing the success of this edition, the expectations for future editions of "GJON MILI IVAF" are high.
The festival is expected to continue to expand, attracting more artists and wider audiences, while maintaining its essence: creating a space for unlimited expression and cultural interaction.
The "Gjon Mili" International Video Art Festival is much more than an artistic event; is a platform that brings people together through the power of art. In an increasingly divided world, festivals like this remind us that creativity and the human spirit are the forces that connect and inspire us. Korça, with this festival, has shown that art is a way to build a better world, a world where diversity and innovation are embraced without fear and prejudice./ CNA
