The news is circulating on some portals that SPAK has sent an official letter to the Assembly to request the arrest of former Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj.

According to the data that was made public before, Ahmetaj's house of his co-habitant in Gjirin e Lalëzi was searched, it was also claimed that there are three accusations brought against him by SPAK.

After the publication of the news, CNA.al asked the officials of the Assembly: has a letter arrived from SPAK regarding the arrest of Arben Ahmetaj, or a request from SPAK to remove the immunity of any MP?

Që të merret një kërkesë e dërguar nga SPAK do duhet të hapet zyra e protokollit, të dorëzohet ajo, etj. Në fakt, nuk ka asnjë kërkesë drejtuar nga SPAK në Kuvendin e Shqipërisë.

Është një lajm që ende është i paqartë. Publikuesit pretendojnë se gjithçka është e vërtetë dhe letra është rrugës. Nga Kuvendi pretendon se ende nuk ka mbërritur aty, pra nuk ka një kërkesë zyrtare nga SPAK.

However, from the previous legal procedures, as was the case of Mr. Saimir Tahiri, a letter was brought to the Assembly on Saturday evening, then it was received and dealt with by the Mandates Committee, which met, discussed, and removed the immunity and so on.

After that, the Prosecutor's Office, with the removal of immunity, takes the request to the court for the detention of the person, who was a person with immunity.

So, until now there is no request submitted to the Assembly and there cannot be an arrest warrant issued by the Court, since for the entire procedure to take place, the MP's immunity must be removed and then the prosecution must go to the court.

For further developments, we will wait to see if this news is true, a media hoax, or SPAK has taken another step against the former deputy prime minister of Edi Rama./ CNA.al
