Municipal Council meeting takes place/ Fino: We are not putting Veliaj on trial, dismissal necessary for Tirana

The Tirana City Council meeting begins with the agenda of dismissing the imprisoned mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj.

In her speech before the vote, Council President Megi Fino said that this is not a session aimed at a trial against Veliaj, but is paving the way for resolving the situation in Tirana.

We are not putting Erion Veliaj on trial. He is still innocent.

We only have the obligation to pave the way for a necessary decision for Tirana.

I want to strongly emphasize that today we are fulfilling our political obligation to citizens after the detention without trial and without a deadline.
