"We have many new sources"/ Rama: We aim to not import energy by 2030

Prime Minister Edi Rama, present in Vienna, as part of the "Albania, New Horizons" conference, spoke about energy in the country.

Rama has stated that at the beginning of his government, energy was one of the biggest problems, caused by the problematic situation with the distribution company. The Prime Minister said that the distribution company's debt was 1.2 billion.

The Prime Minister then focused on the current situation and said that there are many new energy sources that have been put into operation or are expected to be put into operation.

Rama stated that the goal is for solar energy production to reach 30% and for all necessary energy to be produced within 2030 without the need for imports.

He also said that in addition to investments in solar and wind energy, investments are also being made in the hydropower system.

" Energy has been one of the biggest problems we had to deal with. We went through a very problematic situation with the utility company, with a very large debt, 50% did not pay for energy. 1.2 billion was the debt of the distribution company. We are now in a completely different position. We have many new sources that have been put into operation or will be put into operation. Our goal is to increase the production from solar energy to 30%. We aim to produce the energy we need all year round before 2030, without the need to import. We are investing in solar energy, wind energy and a new technology. It is the hydropower system. Through water recycling, we can get energy from the same water and increase the amount of energy produced with 800 MWh plants ," said Rama. /CNA
