Rama: Albania will conclude all EU membership talks by the end of 2027

Prime Minister Edi Rama focused today on the process of opening the chapters of Albania's negotiations with the European Union.

In his speech at a conference in Vienna, Rama stated that due to the interest shown by the country, but also due to the situation between Ukraine and Russia, the membership process has been greatly intensified.

Rama said that it has been agreed with the EU that the talks will be concluded within 2027.

"We are in a process that has progressed a lot, we are practically opening the negotiation chapters at a speed that has never been seen before during the accession process, but it is a combination of our merit and the EU's new approach towards enlargement.

Thanks to or because of the war in Ukraine, which has deeply shaken Europe and conveyed the message to EU leaders that the geopolitical importance of a united Europe is existential and that the Western Balkans are naturally part of the future of the EU body.

"Thanks to what we have done and what Putin has done, we are currently in a very intensified membership process and I am full of hope that it will happen sooner rather than later, while the plan agreed with the Commission is to complete the technical part, all negotiations, by the end of 2027," Rama said./CNA
