The police in Himare have secured all the voting centers for the mayoral elections that are taking place today. 

The police officers have appeared according to the duty defined near these objects, to take them into custody.

"In fulfillment of the obligations of the Electoral Code, the Police in Himare have taken into custody all the voting centers for the mayoral elections. Electoral facilities will continue until 06:00 on 04.08.2024 when the Voting Center Commissions will start working normally public safety", the announcement states. 

23 thousand and 74 citizens of Himara will turn to the ballot boxes to elect the new mayor of their municipality. There are two candidates in the race, Vangjel Tavo from the Socialist Party and Petro Gjikuria from the opposition. 

In total, there will be 36 voting centers in Himare, which will open at 07:00 and close at 19:00 until the last voter leaves.

In the voting centers, the electoral materials arrived 2 days ago, while the CEC distributed them in the early hours of Saturday morning, in order for the voting centers to be ready at 07:00 today.

In Himara, only electronic identification is applied and the polling stations will be monitored by cameras as in every election./ CNA
