May 11th Elections/ Political Parties Sign Code of Ethics for Digital Campaigns

Political parties participating in the May 11 parliamentary elections have signed today the Code of Ethics for Digital Campaigns in Albania. This agreement aims to promote ethical standards and combat disinformation in elections.

This code is a shared commitment to a fair digital environment, where political competition is conducted on principles of ethics and integrity.

It was developed in collaboration with NDI Albania - National Democratic Institute, International IDEA and the Rule of Law Center at the University of Helsinki, based on successful experiences from the 2024 European elections and international best practices.

The State Election Commissioner, Mr. Ilirjan Celibashi, thanked the political entities for supporting this initiative and underlined the importance of a fair competition with ethical standards.

The Director of the Center for the Rule of Law, Ms. Tuija Brax, emphasized that this is a voluntary instrument, but an opportunity for parties to show voters their seriousness.

Ms. Blerta Hoxha from International IDEA, congratulated the parties for this step, comparing it to the standards followed by sister parties in the European Parliament.

The Director of NDI, Ms. Ana Kovacevic Kadovic, described this signature as a testament to the power of cooperation between institutions, parties and international partners.
