The mandate of Olta Xhaçka, the former Minister of Defense, was a "bone of contention" at the meeting of the Conference of Presidents.

The vice-president of the Democratic Party, Gazment Bardhi, clashed with the Speaker of the Parliament, Lindita Nikolla, to whom he demanded an account for the non-implementation of the decision of the Constitutional Court.

He stated that non-implementation of the decisions of the Constitutional Court constitutes a criminal offense.

Nikola answered that the Council of Mandates will meet on Monday for Xhaçka, while Bardhi stated that according to the procedure, the case should go to the Assembly.

Full statement:

Bardhi: In violation of the constitution, you as speaker of parliament and as the majority are refusing to implement the decision of the Constitutional Court. You have been making absurd excuses since January 2023 until today. This practice of the Constitutional Court is a well-known practice, but you act as if you don't understand it and drag it out. You want to return it once again to the Council of Mandates, where the decisions of this council have been subject to review by the Constitutional Court.

Nikolla: On Monday, we will convene the Council of Mandates on this issue to continue the procedure.
