The mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, has blamed the media for his thieving directors, who were caught by SPAK, after being denounced and accused by former MP Belind Kelliçi.

Veliaj attacked the media, as he said during a TV appearance that he is seeing an overdose of news about his directors.

He even tried to deflect attention from the scandal of his subordinates, claiming that the reports are attacks on fines.

"I think that the prosecution is doing its job, the government and the municipality with this sterile distance supporting the prosecution and asking colleagues to clarify this work in their privacy and it seems to me a media overdose that coincides with people I have had in office and look for illegal things. It is definitely a moment of reflection for me, definitely a reflection for the municipality, definitely we have to make sure that not 99% but 100% of things are correct, it is also a moment of reflection for a vetting of media operators, which for the most part , if I say it in the first person, the head of the municipality is a witness how they come to the office of the municipality and ask for illegal things, and at the first moment when someone 3 of the 300 directors are being investigated, they have not been punished, they use it as an opportunity to owe a debt, but I don't owe the man.
