The mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, has admitted that he has acquaintance and friendship with the son of George Soros, Alex Soros.

Veliaj said this evening on Endri Xhafo's "Log" show that the Soros family has invested in Albania and cannot be ungrateful.

He expressed pride that he has a special relationship with Soros, while throwing accusations at the Democratic Party.

"We have known each other for years and I believe that having a friend and being loyal to friends is not illegal, we have a special relationship and I don't have a complex, I am proud. When a man whose father did more many schools in Albania and where the bakers who received scholarships and were paid a salary in Sali Berisha's government, when these are ungrateful, they should feel bad. I am super proud. The biggest wave of schools was from Soros. The second wave that's what we're going through right now and you're telling a man who builds schools and pays for your school, I'm grateful not only to Alex Soros but to every person who has done good in this country.
