Researcher Auron Tare said today that especially in the period after World War II, the Albanian diaspora has been quite divided and divided into political factions.

Speaking to A2 CNN, Tare stressed that even after the '90s, this grouping has not had any discernible voice or influence.

 "I think that the Albanian diaspora was really active and had an impact only in the 1920s and 1930s, when, especially the diaspora in America, played a very important role for Albania, for its fate, for its borders, for its recognition and for some of the most important issues of Albania that had just become an independent state. Then, I think, after 1945, with the establishment of communist power, the diaspora was quite divided, divided into political factions and it is not that it has played any important role, except for being used as cannon fodder by the Anglo-Americans. Then from 1990 onwards we have a large distribution of Albanians. It is not that there is any diaspora impact in Albania.
