Italian Ambassador Fabrizio Bucci has completed his 5-year mission in Albania.

In an interview coinciding with the end of his term, Bucci expressed his great satisfaction with the period he spent in Albania.

"It's been 5 wonderful and fantastic years. Here in Albania in 5 years I haven't spent a single boring day. We have done a lot, from the point of view of trade relations, economic relations, cultural relations, in the fight against organized crime and corruption," said Bucci.

Bucci said he will miss Albania, which he calls his "second home."

A little about the life and work of the ambassador

Fabrizio Bucci was born in Rome on April 14, 1964 and graduated in 1988 in Political Science from the University of Rome.

In 1992, he began his diplomatic career, initially being appointed to the General Directorate of Personnel and then to the General Directorate for Political Affairs; in 1996, he was appointed to Cairo, where he remained until 2000. He was subsequently appointed to the Permanent Representation to the EU.

He returned to Rome in 2004 and was appointed to the General Secretariat, Coordination Unit.

In 2007 he was appointed to Washington, returning to Italy in 2013. Here he served as Head of the Afghanistan Unit at the General Directorate for Political Affairs. In January 2014 he received the rank of Minister Plenipotentiary.

He was then appointed Central Director for European Integration and most recently served as Deputy Director General for the European Union.

In 2010, he was honored with the title of Knight of the Order of Merit of the Republic./ CNA
