Resolution for Fredi Beleri/ Reagon Rama: PPE is certainly not well informed

Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted to the support resolution for the elected mayor of Himara, Fredi Beleri, which was approved this Tuesday in the European Parliament.

Through a status on social networks, Rama says that the European People's Party, which approved the resolution, does not specify exactly which authorities it addresses.

He says that the PPE is probably not informed that Beler's non-swearing is not the result of the elections, but of the courts.

The head of the government emphasizes that it would be worrying if the PPE raises its voice about a person who is subject to SPAK for corruption.

Interesting! "We appeal to the Albanian authorities"... An appeal without specifying which authorities and, certainly, without being informed that in this case the problem is not the result of the elections, but of the courts, which have rejected a request such. I used "certainly" because it would be really worrying if the big European People's Party passed a resolution entitled "Rule of Law" to demand a different outcome to that decided by the Special Prosecutor for Corruption and Organized Crime and Special Courts with the same name.

These institutions were established with the full support of the EU&US and are closely assisted by the US&EU in their so far impressive work against corruption and organized crime. If necessary, we are more than willing to provide EPP senior leadership with information on this matter in any format and at any time.

There is no doubt that all the Albanian authorities expect with great confidence the continued support of the EPP, as a strong voice of our Europe during this phase of historical change for our country, where finally, high officials are being investigated with depth beyond political parties, which marks the end of a long era of impunity./ CNA
