"Respect the independence and professional integrity of prosecutors"/

The High Prosecutorial Council reacted today to Prime Minister Edi Rama's statements about the judge in the case of the arrest of Mayor Erion Veliaj, and Sali Berisha's statement against Justice and especially SPAK and Dumani.

The KLP has reiterated its support for the prosecution institution to exercise its functions independently, impartially and in accordance with the law.

Through a statement, the KLP calls on all actors to respect the independence and professional integrity of prosecutors, ensuring that they exercise their functions without external influences in the service of delivering justice.

"Following previous positions on guaranteeing the independence of prosecutors, the High Prosecutorial Council reiterates its support for the prosecution institution to exercise its functions independently, impartially and in accordance with the law. 

Maintaining these principles is essential for the functioning of justice and strengthening the rule of law.

The Council calls on all actors to respect the independence and professional integrity of prosecutors, ensuring that they exercise their functions without external influence in the service of delivering justice.

"The independence of the prosecution is a cornerstone for citizens' trust in justice institutions and for guaranteeing a fair and transparent legal system," the KLP statement said. /CNA
