Prime Minister Edi Rama has launched an unprecedented frontal attack for a head of government against justice institutions, such as SPAK and GJKKO, and their prosecutors and judges.
On the other hand, Rama has defended Socialist Party exponents such as Erion Veliaj and Klotilda Bushka, against whom criminal charges are pending.
The government's number one has started "a war" with what until yesterday he considered to be the justice institutions that changed the face of Albania in relation to punishment even in the highest instances.
Rama instructed the High Inspector of Justice this Wednesday to initiate proceedings against the GJKKO judge, Erjon Bani, after the latter issued the measure of "prison arrest" against Veliaj. He described Bani as a PD suicide bomber at the GJKKO.
As for prosecutor Olsi Dado, who investigated Erion Veliaj, Rama said that he intimidated witnesses, while Erion Veliaj himself went even further, describing the prosecutor as a perverted individual, and describing the accusations brought against him as hallucinatory.
Rama, on the other hand, has not hesitated to remind judges, prosecutors, including SPAK head Altin Dumani, of their "fat" salaries, as if Rama is taking that money out of his own pocket.
In this frontal attack being made on justice reformers, the question that arises is simple.
But why are the embassies and diplomatic representatives in our country silent?!
Weren't they the first to guarantee that justice reform would continue and that judges and prosecutors would remain unaffected by politics?
Don't prosecutors and judges anymore have the unwavering support of internationals?!
When opposition parties attacked justice institutions, reactions were swift, both from diplomats who condemned the attacks, as well as from the KLGJ and KLP, who demanded the independence of the judiciary from politics. As a reminder, we are bringing just one of the many messages of support that have been sent to SPAK. On April 17, 2024, the KLP reacted harshly to Berisha's attacks on SPAK.

"The High Prosecutorial Council, as the governing and constitutional body of the prosecution system, closely follows every public reaction regarding the work of the prosecution institution and in particular the Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime.
In this context, the High Prosecutorial Council has followed with concern in recent days the statements of specific subjects in the audiovisual and electronic media, regarding the prosecutors of the Special Prosecution Office (SPAK) and its head. The High Prosecutorial Council condemns any hate speech, expression, offensive and intimidating action that aims to unfairly denigrate the figure of the prosecutors or to exert pressure on them, calling on everyone not to in any way violate the professional work of the prosecutors of the Special Prosecution Office", said the KLP.
The reaction of the United States Embassy in Tirana was immediate, which at the time appreciated the stance and condemnation of the KLP regarding the attacks against SPAK.
In its response to Platform X, the US Embassy in Tirana emphasized that the United States stands with Albanian citizens who support the new justice institutions.

"We welcome the KLP's condemnation of the direct and indirect attacks against SPAK in recent days and weeks. We will continue to stand with the overwhelming majority of Albanian citizens who support the new justice institutions and the key role they play in Albania's democracy. The United States stands with law-abiding justice professionals and will support all those who seek to end impunity," the US Embassy said in a statement.
Where is the US, the EU, and other embassies in the country that have invested in this independent justice system today?! Where are the justice institutions like the Supreme Court and the Supreme Court?!
The accusations of Rama and Berisha essentially remain the same, only the political colors change, the accusations and attacks have moved from the blue headquarters to the pink headquarters. The reaction to these attacks should not be with double standards!/ CNA
