He promised salary and pension increases/ Kume: Rama is acting against the law

The former head of the Central Election Commission (CEC), Kristaq Kume, has stated that the promises made by Rama are in conflict with the law in the Electoral Code.

During an interview with the journalist, Sonila Meço, Kume stated that this law foresees administrative measures for violations committed by the government with the increase of pensions or investments.

The former head of the CEC has also emphasized that if these violations affect the result, then we have a criminal prosecution.

"The Prime Minister said that regardless of the Electoral Code and what is written in it, the government will do its work even though the Electoral Code is a product of this government. The answer is that we have agreed with what is written in the Electoral Code, but what we do after that, it doesn't matter.

The law provides for sanctions and they are administrative, the law is evasive and does not consider it a criminal offense because it is said that if the offense significantly affects the outcome of the elections, it can become the subject of a criminal investigation, but who is the one who finds out how much have weighed the government's decisions in the end result.

"In 4 months from the date of the elections, investments should not be made or decisions made that affect the outcome of the elections, as stated in point 4 of Article 91 in the Electoral Code," he said./CNA
