Member of the Presidency of the Democratic Party, Grigels Muçollari, issued a statement to the media today.
This public statement highlights some of the important issues ahead of the May elections.
According to Muçollari, Rama is destroying the institution of the Library, raising suspicions that towers may be erected.
In his speech, Muçollari focused on the change of the historic Library building and the importance of this cultural institution. He raised concerns about why there was no prior information for citizens and accused Rama of alienating the National Library of Albania.
"This historic building here behind me, which all citizens know, will no longer be the National Library.
Edi Rama has decided to relocate this key institution of culture and the nation to the outskirts of Tirana, with a project that is not at all transparent.
According to this announcement issued by the Investment Corporation, it is simply stated that the National Library will be located in the area known as "German Villages." The announcement invites companies to submit projects.
There is no information about why this decision was made, and what will happen to this building here, an asset of the city and the Albanians.
Nothing is known about what the predetermined winner, a friend of Edi Rama, will be rewarded with.
Will this ensemble here on the edge of Skanderbeg Square, like many others, be lucky enough to turn into a profitable clientelistic business, into a tower worth hundreds of millions of euros?
This lack of transparency is not because Edi Rama does not know what will be done. On the contrary, he is simply keeping his scheme secret. This way of treating public and state facilities and assets shows that he considers himself their owner and can do whatever he wants.
The National Library of Albania is not the property of Edi Rama. This iconic institution belongs to the citizens and Albanians.
It seems that the prime minister is in a hurry to quickly bring to an end his plan for state properties to share with his friends. And suddenly every week an announcement appears on the Investment Corporation's website stating that a historic building like this will be hidden, will disappear.
Edi Rama is doing all of this just a few months before the elections.
For this reason, to stop this clientelistic and corrupt bargaining with state assets, the May 11 vote is of vital importance.
The citizens of Tirana and all of Albania must show Edi Rama that he is not the owner of the National Library, nor of the Gallery, nor of the Museum, nor of those dozens of objects that he has decided to distribute to his friends.
This infamous plan must be stopped, and May 11 is the day to stop it," Muçollari said./ CNA
