Rama: It's not a good thing to see people you know brought to justice

Today, a meeting of the Foreign Policy Committee of the Socialist International took place in Tirana. During his speech, Prime Minister Rama also spoke about justice reform and arrests in political ranks.

Rama said it is painful that people connected to politics are being held accountable before prosecutors. The Prime Minister said that from a human point of view, it is not good to bring to justice people you have known for a long time.

" We are fighting against all odds when it comes to equality before the law. It is painful that for the first time in our state's history since 1912, when we declared independence, we see powerful people connected to the political state, government or opposition, being held accountable before independent prosecutors. I cannot hide from you that from a human point of view it is not the best thing to see people you have known for a long time being brought to justice to answer for various things. And since they are innocent until proven guilty, these are processes that take their time. What is new in Albania, and quite revolutionary, is that we have cleaned up the justice process through a verification process and have handed over the sword of punishment from the executive branch to the judicial branch. Of course, this is helping a lot. There is no doubt that it is helping ," the prime minister said./ CNA
