The Political Leader of the Socialist Party for the Diaspora, Taulant Balla, held a meeting with compatriots working and living in London, where he introduced the diaspora candidate, Vera Ndrecaj.

In his speech, Balla stated that to give you the EU passport, we need not just a fourth mandate, but a mandate stronger than the three mandates so far.

"Therefore, whoever wants the EU passport, should vote for Edi Rama and the Socialist Party, because no one else can provide Albanians with the EU passport within this decade. The European passport of Albanians is not only freedom of entry at any EU border, from the queue-free corridor at any airport, port or land customs, but it is also freedom of residence at any point within the borders of the European Union," Balla declared.

Albania has a real opportunity, he said, to join the EU in the next 4 years. This opportunity and this window will not be there for long and we need to seize this historic moment now.

Seeking the vote of compatriots for the Socialist Party, Balla confirmed that the Albanian government has begun negotiations with the British so that Albanians, who have Kosovar papers, can register with their real names.

"In the first days of April, in each of your homes or the addresses you have provided, an envelope will arrive by post, the ballot for each of you. 17,500 Albanians have registered in Great Britain. I would have liked to have had more Albanian voters from Great Britain to participate. I see this number with positivity, because I am an optimist by nature, that this number will continue to grow. But I know very well that what Prime Minister Rama said in November of last year must move forward: our commitment that we must finally resolve, together with the British government, the issue of registering with the true generalities of almost 100 thousand Albanians living here, who arrived in the years '98-'99-2000 and for reasons that we know, were registered with other generalities. Today we are at the moment when I can officially confirm to you that we have started negotiations with the British government to provide a final solution", Balla said.

Balla also informed Albanians in Great Britain about an achievement of the Albanian government: the approval of the law on the Mountains Package, which provides a solution to a major problem, as he said, of using family property without bureaucracy and for only 1 euro.

"We have just approved the Mountains Package, which provides a solution to a problem that, if I sit down with each of you, you have a major problem: each of you has a property that has no papers, that your father built, that your grandfather left you, a piece of land that you have had for 30 years without papers. We have approved a law that you do not have to make any more efforts, nor do you have to introduce any more friends. It is enough to send a request to the municipality that this land is mine, I have had it for 30 years and I do not have a single piece of paper, and with a municipal decision they will give you the title of ownership. You will pay 1 euro for the entire land. Today, our Albania is more respected than ever in the last 113 years, since 1912 when we were declared an independent state," said Balla.

Balla also had two words for the people outside the hall.

"It's a ballot where you don't have to get too tired. In the middle, look at number 5, Socialist Party, Edi Rama. Keep the cross or the plus there, as you like, and you've given your vote where it should be. The rest are for us, two garlics that shouldn't be left in the stadium because they spoil our work. We will win. Every time they appear, our halls are filled. I am today to seek support first and foremost for the SP, Prime Minister Rama, but also on the preferential list. After you voted for the SP, vote for one of the SP candidates, and if you vote only for the subject, your vote is valid", said Balla.

Balla said that the Socialist Party kept its word about the diaspora vote and that on May 11, Albanians have no other alternative. The Socialists must not only obtain a majority to govern, but thanks to the sisters and brothers of the diaspora, obtain a mandate for a qualified majority in the Albanian Parliament./CNA
