GRECO Report/CoE Representative, Esposito: Reforms happen when there is

Today, the GRECO report on the fight against corruption was presented at the Prime Minister's Office. Gianluca Esposito, Director General for Human Rights and the Rule of Law at the Council of Europe (CoE), also participated in the presentation.

In his speech, Esposito emphasized that the report on corruption prevention showed that there were results in Albania.

Esposito said that with corruption we all lose, society loses, so prevention is key.

"I am happy every time I come to Tirana, I feel at home when I come here. GRECO helps countries to set up a system to prevent and fight corruption. With corruption, we all lose, society loses. Prevention is key, so that it does not appear. The authorities have set up a system that is effective in the fight against corruption. Corruption is not a matter of nationality, passport or affiliation, it is a phenomenon," said Esposito.

Esposito added that when there is political will to carry out reforms, reforms happen and this is the key to success.

"I am happy that Albania has fulfilled these points to fight corruption. This work here and in Strasbourg has worked well. When there is political will to carry out reforms, reforms happen. This is the key to success, when there is political will, reforms happen and there are results. I am honored to be here to celebrate this special moment", said Esposito. /CNA
