Prime Minister Edi Rama was present at the event for the 10th anniversary of the National Emergency Medical Center.
During his speech, Rama called it one of the proudest reforms he has made. Rama said that the national emergency is now at the level of emergencies in other countries.
The Prime Minister has also joked about Emergency Room doctors, saying that they have a safe place in heaven.
" And I will close with a real-life anecdote of a doctor who, at the beginning, when the Emergency Department got the uniforms it has today, had problems with citizens calling the emergency department and when you opened the door, they would see these people in uniform and close the door and say, 'We didn't call the private sector, we called the state,' because the state should appear as a ragamuffin there, and this appearance was not the appearance they were used to seeing the state with. And I believe this speaks to everything that has happened with the National Emergency Department. It is truly one of the prides of the reforms we have made!
There is pride in the way it has been transformed into a success story, a story of shame; there is pride in the way it has been transformed from a human resources perspective and how the experience of those who were lucky enough not to retire without seeing how an ambulance works from start to finish has been harmonized and that at least when they go, that driver had emotions, at least the emotions on the scene that comes up once in a lifetime, but not the emotions of having his car turn off on the road and not being able to go save someone else, as there were in the past and there is pride that today we have a National Emergency that leaves nothing lacking, although there are definitely things that we can and will do better, it leaves nothing lacking to the emergencies of other countries.
So, with great respect, I'm once again stopping where I started and I would very much like all the authorities in the front row, along with me, to give a special round of applause to all the men and women, boys and girls of the emergency services.
Thank you very much and sincerely, much respect and be proud of what you do every day and you, of all of us here, are the only ones who are sure that when you go to meet Saint Peter, your place is in heaven, the rest of us are not sure ," said Rama.
After finishing his speech, Rama received a vest as a gift from the director of the Emergency Department, Skënder Brataj, which he jokingly said he would wear when he beat up the ministers in the government.
" I don't promise you that when I wear it, I will have an emergency, but I will wear it with pleasure and I believe that you will tolerate me wearing it for the sake of the colors it has, even though sometimes I may use it when I go to beat up ministers in the government ," Rama said./ CNA
