"You are a model for our diaspora"/ Balla meets successful Albanian

The leader of the Socialist Party for the Diaspora, Taulant Balla, has held several meetings with successful representatives of the Albanian diaspora in London. Balla praised the contribution of Albanian entrepreneurs in the United Kingdom, highlighting the case of Ermal Karakushi, one of the most successful businessmen in the construction sector.

Karakushi, who runs the company "Hasi Group", has over half of the Albanian workforce employed in various construction projects. He has lived in Britain since 1999 and is known for involving his compatriots in his business.

"I had this contract for 16 months, but I believe I will finish it sooner," says Karakushi, telling Balla about one of his construction sites in London.

During the meeting, Taulant Balla also spoke about the efforts of the Albanian government in cooperation with the British government to facilitate the process of legal immigration. He mentioned the fact that a British consular service has now been opened in Kukës, where Albanian citizens can apply for work visas for the United Kingdom.

"Illegal immigration should no longer exist, but through employment contracts, Albanians can come and work regularly," Balla said.

He also added that during the expected visit of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to Tirana in mid-May, a new level of cooperation will be discussed for further facilitating work, tourist and family visas for Albanians.

Balla congratulated all Albanian entrepreneurs in Britain for their honest work and success, emphasizing that they are an example of successful integration.

"You are the real Albanians who came here with difficulty and today you are successful entrepreneurs. We are proud that in one of the most expensive areas of London, an Albanian company like Hasi Group receives important contracts and never forgets its compatriots," said Balla.

Diaspora representatives expressed gratitude for the institutional support and commitment towards strengthening ties between the Albanian community in Britain and their homeland. /CNA
