The Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja, while reporting to the Laws Commission on the draft budget for 2025, announced that there will be two major investments.

Manja said that it is a matter of hours for the General Directorate of Prisons to launch the public procurement procedures for the construction of the new detention center in Kukës.

He also emphasized that another big investment will be made in the anti-drone system.

"Investment for the construction of the new detention center in Kukës. The funds were taken with the normative act of November and today we are talking about the budget, it is a matter of hours that the prisons directorate will put it in the system for public procurement procedures. The current prison in Kukës does not provide the standards for the treatment of prisoners.

Albania is already an open country, you know that we have nothing in common with Kosovo, there are many citizens of Kosovo in our prison institutions. With the construction of the Kukes detention center, prisoners will have the opportunity to serve their sentences close to their homes.

The second capital investment is the anti-drone system. The demand has been above the budget ceilings and during the budget negotiations, the Ministry of Finance considered it necessary to invest in the anti-drone system for Beijing, Shkodra, Korça, Fier.
