The former Foreign Minister, Ditmir Bushati, spoke with reservations about the government regarding the process of Albania's accession to the EU.

Bushati said in a TV appearance that people do not believe in the opening of chapters or group-chapters with the EU.

He stated that Albanians do not want promises, but want to see serious politicians who take responsibility and seriously fight corruption.

"As long as the EU has not divided its mind on what it will do with our countries, we will see this comfort zone, from which all our countries (Western Balkan countries) are suffering, for verbal oaths, for membership in the EU, if you want years. Do you know when this story started with promises that we will enter 2005, we will enter 2010, we will enter 2015, 2020, etc., etc., but people don't even eat chapters , nor groups of chapters. People must see that we are serious, that we fight corruption not with words but with deeds, that we take political responsibility not with words but with deeds, that we build institutions and that we do not suffer from a strong hand. We have had a strong hand since the time of the Ottoman Empire, but we have had little enlightenment in our history as a state and as a nation," Bushati emphasized./ CNA
