Dismissal of Veliaj/Klosi: Necessary for the well-being of the Municipality of Tirana

The Prefect of Tirana, Afrim Qëndro, has sent the procedural letter for the dismissal of the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, to the Council of Ministers.
This step comes after yesterday's vote in favor of dismissing Erion Veliaj in the Tirana Municipal Council.
Tomorrow, September 25, at noon, a government meeting will be held, where Prime Minister Rama is expected to sign the dismissal of Veliaj, who was arrested on February 10, 2025 on charges of corruption in 9 cases and is also charged with a series of other charges for 5 serious criminal offenses.
If the dismissal is signed the next day, the next step is for the president, who must decree a date for local by-elections./ CNA
