Speaker Peleshi meets with the European Union Ambassador, Silvio Gonzato

The Speaker of the Parliament, Niko Peleshi, received today in a meeting the Ambassador of the European Union to Albania, Silvio Gonzato.

As reported by the press office of the Albanian Parliament, during the meeting, the progress of the European integration process and the leading role that the Albanian Parliament has in this regard were discussed.

The focus of the discussion was on further cooperation between Albanian institutions and the EU Delegation to ensure that the reforms undertaken translate into concrete results for citizens. Speaker Peleshi emphasized that transparency, dialogue and the oversight function of the Assembly are the foundation on which trust and sustainability of this process are built.

Peleshi underlined that the Albanian Parliament remains the central institution where the will of citizens is reflected and where reforms that bring our country closer to the European family are approved.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Gonzato reconfirmed the European Union's support for Albania on its path towards membership and praised the Parliament's commitment to fulfilling integration priorities. /CNA
