Voting from abroad/ Celibashi: Vote integrity is not related to DHL's

The Chief Central Election Commissioner, Ilirjan Celibashi, invited to the show "Kafe Shqeto" on Syri TV, spoke about the process of voting from abroad and the DHL postal service. Celibashi said that the evaluation of the documentation regarding the diaspora vote is expected to be completed in a few days.

The head of the CEC stated that in the last communication with DHL, all documentation was requested and then it will be decided how much the postal company will be paid.

Further, Celibashi said that DHL's fulfillment of contractual duties does not affect the integrity of the emigrant vote.

" We complete the entire documentation evaluation process in a matter of days. The only institution in Albania where the entire protocol is public. It can be consulted in real time on the CEC website. In the last communication with DHL, we asked them to bring the documentation as it should be, so that we can decide whether we will pay the full percentage or not pay at all."

"The integrity of the diaspora vote is not directly related to the performance of DHL or to the fact that how much or how they fulfilled their contractual obligations to the CEC. The process of voting from abroad, and despite the challenge of time, was a model ," Celibashi said.

The Chief Commissioner also spoke about the election result, which he said reflects what voters voted for on May 11th.

Focusing on the accusations linking the CEC to the majority, Celibashi stated that there is clear evidence that the institution he heads is not controlled by the majority and has no connection to the majority.

" The election result reflects what was cast by Albanian voters in the ballot box. Indisputably in my judgment. 83 mandates reflect the votes that Albanian voters have given. The CEC is a zero institution affiliated with the SP and the majority. There is clear evidence that it is not controlled by the government. A part of the public opinion thinks that it is an institution serving the SP. It is simply an opinion ", said Celibashi./ CNA
