Prime Minister Edi Rama was present today at a meeting with the business community, where he spoke extensively about the plan "For fiscal peace".

In his speech, Rama emphasized that this initiative will be implemented starting in January, while listing two reasons that, according to him, make it a very convenient instrument for entrepreneurs.

"Fiscal peace is a commitment of ours from the electoral campaign and today it is law. Despite some debates, which failed to address the essence of this initiative, we are today in a position to implement this initiative, starting from January of next year.

First of all, it aims to build a new bridge of trust and a healthy interaction between the Tax Administration and entrepreneurship. It is not our invention. The phrase itself was born in ancient Rome and is an instrument used for thousands of years.

Secondly, it allows businesses that are not in conflict with the law and that appear as legitimate contributors to review their fiscal statements from previous years. It gives them the opportunity to self-correct, by redoing the declarations from previous years and having as a motive a much lower tax on profit than the tax they regularly pay.

For each corrected statement, the tax is only 5%. This does not violate legal integrity and ensures a process where the enterprise focuses on work, without having the burden of past shortcomings, which goes hand in hand with addressing fines that, depending on the period and age, range from total cancellation to payment in installments and facilities”, said Rama. /CNA
