Enkelejd Alibeaj's Democratic Party has denounced this afternoon the government's intervention to influence the outcome of the May 14 elections.

In a press statement, the head of communication for the campaign for Tirana in Alibeaj PD, Mirela Karabina, said that Rama is using the State Police as a tool to blackmail supporters of the left.

"Even in these elections, as in every electoral contest, just as he has already turned it into a normal practice out of paranoia about losing power, Edi Rama has implemented the instruments to illegally influence the deformation of Sunday's elections . After blackmailing and using the state administration, after engaging criminal groups, after sending out his corrupt officials from the south to the north with bags full of corruption money, Edi Rama is trying to use every instrument to intimidate the opposition. When we are only three days away from the May 14 elections, Edi Rama is also using the State Police as a measure against the Democratic Party. The DP of Alibeaj condemned any act or instrument used with the aim of threatening voters and distorting the May 14 elections.

Karabina called on the Minister of the Interior, Bledi Çuçi and the Director General of the State Police, Muhamet Rrumbullaku "to withdraw from the shameful acts of using the police against the opposition".

" We appeal to every person involved in Edi Rama's election manipulation scheme that these actions constitute a criminal offense and will be held accountable before the law. The Democratic Party of Albania calls on the judicial bodies to be attentive to these acts and to take the necessary measures for the prevention and punishment of actions that violate the free vote, that violate the democratic electoral competition.

The manipulation of the vote, the deformation of the political will of Albanian citizens is the biggest disease of Albanian democracy in 33 years of pluralism. It is shameful for Albania that in 2023, a NATO member country, a country that seeks to integrate into the European Union, still suffers the manipulation of elections and the deformation of the political will of the Albanian people.
