After leaving the money laundering gray list/ Balluku reveals the main target

Getting off the money laundering gray list has been the focus of attention at the annual meeting of the Joint Anti-Money Laundering Committee.

The Deputy Prime Minister and at the same time the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, said that getting out of the gray list was a success, the result of a lot of work.

While talking about the fight against money laundering and economic crime, Balluku revealed the target for 2024.

She stated that the main objective is artificial intelligence and interaction between institutions in the fight against economic crime.

"The year 2023 has been an undoubtedly successful year in our country in this regard, not only in terms of the very positive assessment for Albania's exit from the FATF gray list, but also for the alignment of Albanian legislation with that of the European Union.

I must emphasize that this positive moment for Albania has come as a result of a very great work of all of us, where the consolidation and implementation of the justice reform, as well as the new institutions created as SPAK, have played a very important role. , institutions that have supported the work of traditional law enforcement institutions, giving the impact of Albania's exit from the FATF gray list.

This meeting of the Anti-Money Laundering Coordinating Committee is a joint commitment to continue the fight against financial crime in general and money laundering in particular through investigations, convictions, seizures and confiscations.

In recent years, I have closely followed Albania's progress within the framework of the ICRG and FATF reports, where due to the wide and comprehensive range of measures requested and implemented by the institutions present here at this table today, an efficient commitment and coordination has been frowned upon. between our institutions for a better representation in international monitoring bodies.

At the meeting of the country's exit from the gray list, Albania received numerous congratulations from representatives of other countries for the significant progress of our country, so I take the opportunity to thank all of you, each team that has contributed to this good work and undoubtedly in the dedication and professional commitment you have shown during this process.

I take the opportunity to bring to attention the special care of Prime Minister Rama and the support he has given to the whole process by focusing on the realization of the required objectives, this process has required a significant financial commitment from the Albanian Government and this proves our dedication and intention for the further consolidation of a state of equal rule of law for all.

We have paid a lot of attention to increasing the institutional capacities of each institution as well as investments in information technology systems with the aim of increasing the effectiveness of work processes in response to new global technology challenges. Artificial intelligence and the interaction between institutions in the fight against economic crime is a major aim and objective of the Albanian Government", the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized, among other things. / CNA
