Today, the Republican Party celebrated its 34th anniversary in Tirana. Present were figures such as Sali Berisha, Maksim Begeja, Genc Celo and Anila Godo. In his speech, the leader of the Republican Party, Fatmir Mediu, expressed his appreciation for the founder of this party, Sabri Godo. Mediu also spoke about the cooperation with the Democratic Party, saying that they have always acted as a single party.

"In this political journey, together with the Republican Party, I feel special gratitude for an extraordinary man, for Sabri Godo, as the founder of the Republican Party, its leader, but, above all, an incomparable intellectual, with extraordinary values, not only political, but also national. We made possible Albania's membership in NATO. Here in Tirana, alongside Prime Minister Berisha, President George W Bush has appreciated two important things that we must definitely see as they were and as they should be. The first, declared Albania, in NATO, the second, Independent Kosovo. These are historical moments, which, undoubtedly, should make us feel proud, but should also make us think deeply, how far we are from what we want, what we built and what should be for Albania. With the Democratic Party, we were and are two different parties, but we have always acted as one. The Republican Party is the party of faith in God, because we believe that from him our rights and freedoms, the opportunities to build our happiness and our future, originate and come to us. This faith gives us the opportunity to understand, but also to fight, not to be considered simply numbers, part of a social system, but individuals with dignity and indivisible rights and values. Faith in God is faith in freedom as an individual for what is good and right. Faith is a transformative force of our society to stop the evil that has gripped Albania. The Republican Party is the party of the family. The family is the greatest value, dear sisters and brothers, and the most important of the Albanian nation. The family has been the foundation of our social and national cohesion. God created us as individuals and gave us opportunities, we have a mother and a father. Parents are not numbers and cannot become such. They are of flesh and blood, they are our life and soul. They are the value of each of us. They have given us endless love with effort and sacrifice, while we, often, have given them gray hair. It is unacceptable to accept the destruction of the family by turning them into numbers: parent 1, parent 2, parent 3. This has nothing to do with Albanians, this has nothing to do with us. Therefore, we must firmly preserve our family values ??and respect for our parents. Faith in God and family shapes the Albanian nation and I am convinced that they are the force to rebuild it again. The Republican Party is the party of private property rights. Inherited property must return to God. Should one enjoy it, alienate it, change it in one's own interest, that of the family and the national interest. The state cannot, for its own interest, expropriate and harm the interest of private property, thus limiting the freedom and opportunity of everyone to build what is happiness in Albania that God has granted. The nation and national interest have been and remain the guiding principles for the Republican Party and the Democratic Party.We have had and always have a shining star: our support for Albanians wherever they are, for Kosovo and its independence, for all to work as one nation, to be a European nation.", Mediu said in his speech.

The Democratic Party leader, Sali Berisha, also gave a speech on the 34th anniversary of the Republican Party. The DP leader called the history of cooperation with the Republicans a history of great efforts for freedom.

I have said and I say: Fatmir Mediu has been an extremely important promoter in that process that many, many others considered impossible, unbelievable, not to mention others who await it with protests with portraits of Enver Hoxha, a major act in the history of our nation. With the Republican Party and, now not only with the Republican Party, but also with other opposition parties, in this spectrum of our two parties, they met what rarely ever in history and I don't know of any other case, to face a second dictatorship, now not based on the Marxist-Leninist doctrine, but based on the codes of the mafia, based on the codes of the narco-state. There is nothing in the world that will prevent the opposition from its victory. its iron determination to restore the law, the rule of law, the rights of Albanian citizens, integration and union in the European Union", said Berisha./ CNA
