"Let SPAK do its job!"/ The Socialists' postulate, forgotten by

The Socialists have "beat" their chests, saying that the credit goes to them for implementing the justice reform.

They have often wanted to disassociate their stance from that of the opposition, towards the new justice institutions, saying that they support them, regardless of whether they strike left or right.

But apparently this support had a limit. The limit for the socialists is named after Eion Veliaj! There, the SP forgot what it had said earlier, while launching a frontal attack on SPAK and GJKKO, with all their prosecutors and judges, led by the leader of the socialists, the country's Prime Minister Edi Rama himself.

But what did the latter once say about justice reform and SPAK in particular?!

"Let SPAK do its job!" This was the postulate of the head of government. Time has shown that, as was said, it was forgotten.

"Let SPAK do its job. If the task of the new justice bodies is to perform surgical operations, to uproot the tumor of corruption from politics, without allowing themselves to use a tailor's needle or a butcher's knife, even in an operation.

Our job is not their job. SPAK and GJKKO can be wrong.

While we cannot be wrong.

"This is absolutely inexcusable," the socialist leader said on September 4, 2023.

The same line was once followed by the mayor Erion Veliaj. On April 30, 2024, Erion Veliaj was called to SPAK where he testified for about 7 hours about the Tirana incinerator affair. After leaving SPAK, he stated that he was "with two investigative colleagues" and that he thanked them for the professionalism shown.

"I thank my colleagues at SPAK, an institution that I would never have done before."

After this meeting, I was convinced that an investment has been made in Albania for good. I was with two investigative colleagues, professionals, and I say that we must strengthen the institutions. I was here as a collaborator. The two investigative colleagues asked me that for investigation and investigative secrecy issues, since the Municipality of Tirana has brought some other evidence, I was kindly asked not to share it with journalists. It will be part of the clarification of my testimony", said Veliaj.

On February 10, Veliaj was arrested. Here, the principle that SPAK and GJKKO remain separate from politics and can strike anyone no longer suited the socialists. Edi Rama, at the meeting with the socialist parliamentary group on February 12, made strong accusations against judge Erjon Bani, who issued the arrest order.

"Known as a right-wing extremist, known as a right-wing exponent, scandal in all cases, the same judge is the preliminary judge for the 'Toyota Yaris' file. Only one fact has prevented the public ordering of his file, which they did not do, but did the opposite when they want to smear the figures of the Socialist Party. Now the file is in the hands of the swamp owl who reads it in parliament. It is forbidden to spread and publish. Where are we here? This is a criminal offense. They should not make the mistake of asking for my phone because there are enough phones all over Albania," said Rama, reading a message from a citizen.

Even harsher lynch language was started and continued by the main protagonist of this case, Erion Veliaj. After being arrested, he accused prosecutor Olsi Dado, calling him a lunatic, a lustful ignoramus, a perverted individual, while the indictment, according to Veliaj, was hallucinatory, criminal perversion, 'the plot of a scoundrel'.

The question that arises is simple, if Erion Veliaj is innocent as the socialists claim, why did the very party that claims to have created them completely change their principles towards justice institutions?!

Why don't they let prosecutors and judges do their job undisturbed, if they are so convinced of the mayor's innocence?!

Today, the Socialist Party has "burned" itself, crossing the dividing line between politics and justice, a line that it should not cross not only for Veliaj, but also for Rama himself, if one day the latter had to face justice.

Today, socialists must return to the principle: "Let SPAK do its job!"/ CNA
