Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, during a meeting in Fier together with the Minister of the Interior and the prefects of the districts, called on the Prefectures and Civil Emergencies to prepare for the risk of floods and refresh the plan of measures.

During her speech, Balluku drew attention to the catastrophic floods in Valencia, Spain in recent days, where hundreds of residents lost their lives.

Balluku emphasized that autumn rains are expected and measures must be taken to avoid flooding.

"We will have to have a plan of measures in terms of civil emergencies. Climate change is not sparing anyone. We are following the events that are happening in the Iberian Peninsula in the last weeks. All units, prefectures must refresh the plan of measures, maximum engagement with civil emergencies is required. The Minister of Defense has also started a round of meetings. In addition to the increased machines or forces, a good and efficient plan will be required to deal with the problems that may come with the rains of Autumn and the frosts during Winter", said Balluku.
