"Non-grata based on the corrupt lobbying of Rama and Soros"/ Berisha:
Sali Berisha and Alice Taylor

Invited to the podcast "Inside Albania" with Alice Taylor, the former prime minister and at the same time the head of the Democratic Party Sali Berisha spoke about several different issues related to political life.

Already declared "non grata" by the United States of America, Berisha said that he was sanctioned by Edi Rama and George Soros.

"In politics, you have to be prepared. Edi Rama, after lobbying with George Soros against me, declared me non grata for major corruption, with a signature from Antony Blinken, who is the person who most congratulated Sali Berisha for his success in the fight against corruption. George Soros and Edi Rama sanctioned me. Eight years after my departure, I was not a decision-maker. They remembered that with me that stipulation, they were going to archive me in the house of oblivion. Why? Because I was leaving, but this gentleman, Antony Blinken, hurt my dignity by declaring me non grata after I read his decision. Mr. Secretary, you made this decision. First of all, I can tell you that it is based on the corrupt lobbying of Edi Rama and George Soros. I tell you honestly, I did not know anything about the family ties Blinken and Soros, but I thought no one else could do this lobbying but him."

Berisha added that if they had presented even one proof of corruption, I would leave politics forever.

"Second, Mr. Secretary, when you produce a single piece of evidence of my corruption, then I will say goodbye to politics forever. Third, Mr. Secretary, I am not asking you to reverse the decision, but I will sue you in court and I will give you the opportunity to present all your facts. I was not lobbying. I decided to defend my dignity in Paris. That was my decision the party should not be involved. We are a pro-western and pro-American party. I will fight for myself, I feel strong enough to do it, mainly the American one. On July 30, Philip Reeker, a person with whom I had worked very closely, came to Albania and asked the Prime Minister and Lulzim Basha, as party chairman, that Berisha not enter the parliament he showed me this, I told him that he should convey the following message. No country has done more for the freedom of Albanians than the United States, but they have never drawn up a list of deputies. If they do, they violate the nation's sovereignty. I never accepted this. The chairman was a weak person. The day before the parliament started, he came out and told the Albanians that due to the terrible pressure from the American ambassador, and for the sake of Albania, the PD, and Sali Berisha, he had decided to expel Berisha. I called the chairman and told him that this decision was completely against the laws of the party. He should convene the caucus, the party's national council, or convention, to vote me out. If there had been a vote, I would have accepted it, but he answered publicly that he would not hold any anti-American meetings. I told him that these are very American meetings, about the rule of law. He refused. Then, I took the legal initiative, gathered 62% of the signatures and we held the party convention."
