Rama tells Haga to dismantle SPAK

Prime Minister Edi Rama spoke yesterday in Pristina about the Special Court , during the speech at the joint meeting of the two Assemblies, of Albania and Kosovo.

Rama attacked the Special Court based in The Hague and demanded that a verification mission be set up and a resolution be made against it.

Also, the head of the government proposed that the resolution be deposited in the Parliament of Albania, while he promised that the Socialist Party will approve it.

"I can't sit like that, without telling you here my surprise at the fact that in this hall there has never been an initiative to ask you, through a resolution supported by all political forces, at least by the Albanian parties, to to all funding countries of that court the great concern over the standards of that process and to request the establishment of a verification mission related to this concern.

The court is independent, but the standards are not dependent on the judges. Maybe this widespread concern may not stick, but if it does then that's a big bummer. Not for those 4 simple people, not only for the Republic of Kosovo, but for the very integrity of international justice, to which this Republic, through its representatives in this hall, gave in good faith the judgment of history that gave birth to the Republic and therefore cannot be left, according to me, in the deafening silence that is fueled by all kinds of motives from the noblest to the most political, that disaster, if it is a disaster, will do its damage to the end.

However, I want all of you here and those listening to us to know that if the Assembly of Kosovo would ever take the initiative to address all the sponsoring states of the Special Court and share with them the reasonable suspicion of the violation of democratic standards in the legal process against Hashim Thaçi, Jakup Krasniqi, Kadri Veseli and Rexhep Selim, and if we were asked to join such an initiative and the Parliament of Albania, I would not I can speak for others, but only for my political strength. The Socialist Party will engage him without any hesitation to deposit the same resolution voted by the Assembly of Kosovo in the Assembly of Albania", declared the Prime Minister.

So, Rama is seeking to dismantle the Special Court, thus going against EU standards.

The EU has expressed support for the work of the Specialized Chambers and the Office of the Specialized Prosecutor of Kosovo, as well as for the SPAK.

Also, the EU has expressed readiness to help the Special Court, but the head of the Albanian government has come out against it with sword in hand.

Now Edi Rama only has to announce Fatmir Xhafajn and his temporary parliamentary commission as leaders for dismantling the Hague tribune.
